This five-day course focuses on providing students advanced skills and knowledge to administer the Solaris Operating System.

Prerequisites:
Prior to attending this class, students should have the following experience:

  • Completion of the Introduction to UNIX course or equivalent experience
  • Completion of the Solaris System Administration I course or equivalent experience

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • administer networking software on Solaris machines including DNS, LDAP and NIS
  • configure JumpStart to create automated installation processes
  • administer network devices
  • perform virtual disk management and administer RAID
  • perform advanced configuration of NFS , automount and CacheFS file systems
  • create and maintain Bourne Shell scripts
  • monitor and improve system performance
